UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Earth System Science Center has announced the lineup for its fall 2021 climate dynamics seminar series. The series will focus on the science and sociology of climate change. The seminars take place from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesdays in 529 Walker Building.

The schedule is as follows:

• Sept. 01: Michael Mann, meteorology and atmospheric science, “The rise and fall of the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation”
• Sept. 15: Brian Thiede, agricultural economics, sociology, and education, “Climate variability and human migration in the developing world”
• Oct. 13: Mikael Hiestand, geography, topi to be announced
• Oct. 20: Julio Urbina, electrical and computer engineering, “Electromagnetic remote sensing: From tracking election to bees”
• Nov. 3: Michelle Gore, meteorology and atmospheric science, “Connecting large-scale meteorological patterns to extratropical cyclones in climate models using self-organizing maps”
• Nov. 10: Kyle Imhoff, meteorology and atmospheric science, Pennsylvania State Climate Office, “Overview of the Pennsylvania State Climate Office and mesonet development”
• Dec. 08: Margarita Lopez-Uribe, entomology, topic to be announced
