UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Engineering Graduate Student Council hosted its annual College of Engineering Research Symposium on April 6 at the Hyatt Place in downtown State College. The event is a student-run research symposium that showcases undergraduate and graduate engineering research from across the University.

“CERS gives students the opportunity to present their research to a technical audience in a low-pressure environment,” said Jason Nachman, graduate programs assistant in the College of Engineering’s Office of Graduate Programs and Graduate Professional Programs. “The experience allows them to work on the skills needed to do the same at field-specific conferences around the world.”

This year, more than 150 people attended the event, where more than 60 students presented their work.

"We were really excited to showcase all of the cutting-edge research by exceptional student researchers,” said Lauren Katch, doctoral candidate in engineering science and mechanics and chair of CERS. “The day was filled with educational and energetic talks and discussions, and we were thrilled to see a great crowd. "
