UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Germán Campos-Muñoz, associate professor of world literature at Appalachian State University, will present “New World Chorographies: Virgil's Aeneid and the Walls of Colonial Lima," at 12:15 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3, in Room 102 of the Kern Building.

Campos-Muñoz received his doctorate in comparative literature from the Penn State. His research interests include textual circulation, migration and translation; pedadogy; and theories of world and comparative literature. He has published articles on the connections between the Classics and Latin America in journals such as Latin American Research Review, Hispanic Review, and Dieciocho. He is currently finishing a transhistorical monograph on the powerful impact of the Greco-Roman tradition in five key moments of South American history and culture, and his next project will interrogate the asymmetries between the circulation of texts and the circulation of bodies in the framework of World Literature. Campos-Muñoz teaches courses on world literature, comparative literature, and literary theory and criticism.

This event is a part of the Comparative Literature Luncheon lecture series, a weekly, informal lunchtime gathering of students, faculty and other members of the University community. Each week the event begins at 12:15 p.m. – lunch is provided. At 12:30 p.m. there will be a presentation, by a visitor or a local speaker, on a topic related to any humanities discipline.
