Stopping the pandemic requires using all the tools available, including ongoing use of face masks, physical distancing, and now, the COVID-19 vaccine. At this time, the vaccine is not available to the general public. However, when it is, the University strongly encourages participation as part of our effort to mitigate the longer impact of transmission in our campus communities.
In a new video series, Penn State faculty experts help educate the community on the latest information related to the COVID-19 vaccine.
Steve Tracey, Executive Director for Center Supply Chain Research, explains supply chain challenges that the country is up against. “What’s slowing down the process are big picture challenges,” Tracey said. “From manufacturing capacity, logistics, cold storage, scheduling, and finally, adequate capacity to administer the vaccine to you.” He adds that the system is improving quickly and the states are adopting best practices that will ultimately get more vaccines to more people.
