UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — While the media focuses on President Trump’s connection to Russia, David Frum argues that a much larger problem is happening behind the scenes as the administration breaks the long-accepted rules of democracy.
Frum, a senior editor at The Atlantic and author of “Trumpocracy: The Corruption of the American Republic,” will discuss what he describes as the “guardrails of democracy” at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 26 in the Lewis Katz Building auditorium. The lecture is presented by the McCourtney Institute for Democracy in the College of the Liberal Arts.
In “Trumpocracy," Frum draws on his own experience in the White House. Frum served as a speechwriter and special assistant to President George W. Bush and as a senior adviser to Rudy Giuliani's 2008 presidential campaign. His book “The Right Man: The Surprise Presidency of George W. Bush,” published in 2003, was the first insider account of the Bush White House. He’s also written for The National Review and The Daily Beast, among many other news outlets.
