UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Institutes of Energy and the Environment (IEE) announced a series of energy-related virtual discussions this fall. Hosted by Bruce Logan, associate director of IEE and director the newly formed Consortium for Integrated Energy Systems (CIES), these discussions will share about the CIES mission, introduce the new CIES-focused faculty, and explore the technical and social challenges related to the rapidly changing energy infrastructure while providing fair and equitable solutions for a global community.
The meetings will be held online and are scheduled for noon on Wednesday, Sept. 15; 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14; and 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12. All attendees must register for the events. Each hour-long session will have an open format to encourage discussions, starting with a 10-minute presentation.
“Our energy infrastructure needs to be rapidly transformed to address climate change and energy inequities in our communities,” said Logan. “These open discussions will help to highlight and inform the Penn State community on some of the challenges and solutions possible to enable these changes on local to global scales.”
