UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — University faculty are invited to nominate undergraduate students from all campuses and all disciplines to participate in the 15th Annual Undergraduate Research at the Capitol—Pennsylvania Poster Conference.

The conference, taking place at the State Capitol Building in Harrisburg on Tuesday, April 25, provides undergraduate students from across the state the opportunity to showcase their research projects to an audience of Pennsylvania legislators. In addition to the scholarly presentations and discussions, students interact with members of state government and, when possible, are invited to visit either the Senate or House Chamber as part of the day’s events.

The Office of Undergraduate Education is organizing the selection, submission, and registration of all presentations from Penn State. A total of eight posters from Penn State undergraduate students will be selected for presentation at the event.

Faculty are asked to submit nominations via email to Sally Butts at sbg108@psu.edu by noon on Monday, Feb. 13. Nominations should include:

  • the name of the undergraduate student(s);
  • the title of the poster; and
  • a brief abstract. If the nominating faculty member is not the project adviser, please provide that name as well.

Students selected to participate will be notified on Wednesday, Feb. 15, and faculty advisers are invited to attend the event with their students.

More details about Undergraduate Research at the Capitol are available at www.pasen.gov/URCPA. Students and faculty are asked not to contact the event organizers directly. Rather, questions regarding Penn State’s nominations may be directed to Alan Rieck, assistant vice president and assistant dean for undergraduate education, at ajr83@psu.edu or 814-863-1864.

The Office of Undergraduate Education is an academic administrative unit that provides leadership and coordination for University-wide programs and initiatives in support of undergraduate teaching and learning at Penn State. Learn more about Undergraduate Education at undergrad.psu.edu.
