Penn State's Arts and Design Research Incubator (ADRI) is hosting a one-day symposium on Friday, April 26 to showcase advances and inspire cross-pollination between art and health.
Running from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in 16 Borland Building and the Pavilion Theatre on the University Park campus, the symposium is organized by Cristin Millett, professor of art, and Cynthia White, research associate in the Arts + Design Research Incubator. The symposium is free, but registration is required for the full day, which includes lunch.
Oron Catts, director of SymbioticA at the Centre of Excellence in Biological Arts at the University of Western Australia, will deliver the keynote speech at 10:30 a.m. at the Pavilion Theatre’s main stage. The keynote is free and open to the public.
No registration is required to attend the keynote presentation or other events at the Pavilion Theatre:
William Doan, professor of theater in Penn State School of Theatre, will present performance excerpts from “Frozen in the Toilet Paper Aisle of Life” from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m.
“Art at the Pavilion” (all day)
Stop by Pavilion Theatre throughout the day to view photography, multimedia installations, sculpture, films, and a selection of texts from Penn State’s Special Collections Library, representing transdisciplinary research on topics of health and medicine.
