Immigration, opioid crisis to be discussed on WPSU-FM’s 'Take Note'

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — An author’s novel on the immigrant experience and a recovering drug user's insights on her own experiences and the opioid crisis will be discussed during the next two episodes of WPSU-FM’s “Take Note” that premiere at 1 p.m. on March 16 and 23, respectively.

Lisa Ko, an award-winning author whose debut novel, “The Leavers,” was published in 2017, will discuss how her book humanizes the ongoing debate about immigration policy and reform during the March 16 episode.

On March 23, Danielle Dormer, an assistant program coordinator for the Penn State Collegiate Recovery Community, will share her personal experiences dealing with drug addiction and recovery, and her thoughts on the opioid crisis.  

“Take Note,” WPSU’s weekly community affairs radio program that features in-depth interviews with central Pennsylvania and national newsmakers, airs new episodes at 1 p.m. on Fridays and re-airs shows at 7 a.m. on Sundays on WPSU-FM.

WPSU will continue the conversation about opioids at 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, when it airs the documentary “Broken: Women • Families • Opioids” on WPSU-TV. In addition to WPSU, the documentary will be broadcast statewide by public media stations.
