UNIVERSITY PARK – Jason Guilbeault has been named assistant vice president for Research, post-award contractual compliance, within Penn State’s newly created Office of Research Administration Services (ORAS), effective Oct. 14.
Guilbeault will report directly to John Hanold, associate vice president for Research. In this role, Guilbeault will oversee research accounting, the Financial Analysis and Compliance Office and the Subaward Administration and Compliance Office.
“I am very excited to have Jason lead this newly formed organization at Penn State,” said Hanold. “His leadership is exactly what we need to support post-award policy development, process improvement, and training. With Jason’s expertise, Penn State’s sponsored research portfolio is in very good hands.”
Guilbeault brings over 17 years of experience in research administration, fiscal management and compliance to his new role at the University. His background spans pre- and post-award functions, management of research grants and contracts, overseeing financial audits, indirect cost rates, and developing internal processes. Previously, he served as associate vice president of Sponsored Programs Administration at Augusta University, while also serving as the executive director of the AU Research Institute, as a senior consultant at MAXIMUS Higher Education, and a senior cost analyst at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Guilbeault is also a certified research administrator.
"I’m genuinely excited to take on this new role at Penn State and to work alongside such a talented team,” said Guilbeault. “Supporting our researchers through effective post-award management is essential to ensuring their success, and I’m committed to building processes that both empower our research community and uphold the highest standards of compliance. We need to be just as creative as our researchers in building efficient and compliant administrative processes."
Guilbeault holds an MBA from Augusta University, a bachelor of science in accounting from Empire State College of the State University of New York and an associate's in business administration from Schenectady County Community College.
