Are you starting a family history research project this summer? Are you curious about prominent figures from our local community’s past? If so, Penn State University Libraries’ upcoming “Research Coffee Hour: Family and Local History” hopes to answer these questions and more.
The event, hosted by Penn State University Libraries’ Eberly Family Special Collections, will take place at 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29 in Mann Assembly Room, 103 Paterno Library on the University Park campus. Join Special Collections staff for a lively discussion between local genealogy researchers, experts and anyone interested in archival research of family and local history. This event is open to all Penn State students, faculty, staff, and community members.
The event will begin with a brief introduction to the Special Collections Library and an overview of the library’s family history and genealogy resources, followed by a question-and-answer session between researchers who have used Special Collections to find resources on local families and historical figures, as well as those who may just be getting started on their family history investigation. All participants are encouraged to share their research challenges and gain ideas from others at this informal and interactive gathering.
