Students, researchers and staff invited to attend AI Immersion with Microsoft

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Microsoft will headline the next AI Immersion Series presented by the Nittany AI Alliance, Penn State IT and the Institute for Computational Data Sciences at Penn State on Feb. 25–26 in room 233A/B HUB-Robeson Center. The series offers seminars and workshops featuring artificial intelligence, machine learning and its application for the research community in higher education for interested students, researchers and staff.

Brad Tipp, leader of Global Higher Education Strategy for Microsoft; Cat Stoler, future-ready skills leader on the Worldwide Education Industry Team at Microsoft and Zion Brewer, leader of Global Technical Business Development and Strategy at Microsoft, will lead discussions about the company’s perspective on AI; the responsibility that comes with technology; how to empower people to create a more accessible and sustainable world; and the ways computing tools can be used to more rapidly interpret data and mobilize insights to accelerate research.

Brad Zdenek, innovation strategist for the Nittany AI Alliance, said the series is designed to keep those at the University, who are dependent on this technology, leading in an ever-changing environment.

“With the ever-evolving nature of artificial intelligence tools, it can be difficult to stay on top of the emerging trends, time saving tools and potential applications,” Zdenek said. “AI Immersion is intended to provide that information directly from industry leaders to our researchers, students and staff, developing their AI literacy and providing the opportunity to engage those building cutting edge AI tools and platforms.”

The seminars and workshops are free, but space is limited, and registration is required for students, faculty and staff.
