UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Transportation professionals from around the country will sign in from home and office computers next month, when the annual Transportation Engineering and Safety Conference (TESC) is held virtually for the first time in history. Held Dec. 9–11, TESC will bring together experts in industry and academia to discuss some of the most important issues in transportation.
The conference is divided into six key tracks — safety, operations, planning, design, technology and leadership.
Topics to be discussed include autonomous vehicles; intelligent transportation systems; new/revised state and federal transportation guidelines; public/private partnerships and innovative financing; work zone innovations; safety improvements; and smart city applications.
Justin Schwartz, Harold and Inge Marcus Dean of Engineering in the Penn State College of Engineering, will open the conference with a welcome speech. Schwartz is scheduled to speak at 1 p.m. on Dec. 9.
Yassmin Gramian, secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), will serve as the conference’s keynote speaker. She is scheduled to speak beginning at approximately 1:10 p.m. on Dec. 9.
