UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Undergraduate Research and Fellowships Mentoring (URFM) and the University Libraries will offer a series of virtual workshops on undergraduate research during summer 2021. During the seven one-hour sessions offered once a week on Wednesdays from June through August, students have the opportunity to find out what life is like as an undergraduate researcher, what skills are necessary to engage in research, and how to find research opportunities at Penn State.

Attendees must register in advance and are encouraged — but not required — to attend all of the webinars. Taken together, the virtual workshop series serves as a boot camp meant to give students an in-depth look at the entry into undergraduate research at Penn State.

The seven-session boot camp will start June 30 and end Aug. 11. Registration can be found at the links below. All times are in U.S. Eastern Time.

June 30, 3-4 p.m.: Undergraduate Research 101, led by Caitlin Ting, director of URFM
July 7, 3-4 p.m.: Developing a Research Topic or Question, led by Claire Salvati, reference and technology librarian for University Libraries at the University Park campus
July 14, 3-4 p.m.: How to Join the Scholarly Conversation, led by Hailley Fargo, student engagement coordinator for University Libraries
