UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — This Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 15, the University Libraries will hold the first Penn State Human Library at Pattee Library and Paterno Library on the University Park campus. 

In this video, four of the 14 Penn State “human books”— Brian Davis, Alia Gant, Fawn Patchell and Niharika Sharma — invite you to sign up for 45-minute human book conversations, held from 1 to 5 p.m. 

During a Human Library event, human books volunteer to share their their experiences in small group settings of individuals who have signed up to borrow a book’s time. Human books will answer others’ honest, curious questions in a group setting and a supportive, safe environment, all in an effort to help challenge stereotypes and prejudices through dialogue.

Those unable to borrow a human book are encouraged to attend the 7 p.m. “bestsellers panel,” moderated by WPSU host Patty Satalia, in person at Foster Auditorium, 102 Paterno Library, with audience participation welcomed. Penn State faculty, students, and staff also can login from other campuses to attend via live-stream on Mediasite Live.
