UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Geoscientists tell the story of what happens every day under our feet. The Earth science community, however, lacks diverse voices who can tell this story.
Vernon Morris, professor of chemistry and environmental sciences at Arizona State University and a leading proponent of the #notimeforsilence call to action, will discuss challenges to achieving equitable representation in the geosciences at the next EarthTalks seminar. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, and be broadcast via Zoom: https://psu.zoom.us/s/767635597.
The seminar is part of the fall 2020 EESI EarthTalks series, “Changemaking made EESI: Fostering inclusive research communities in the Earth and environmental sciences.” The series explores new perspectives on initiatives that could increase diversity in environmental fields, with a particular slant toward Penn State’s College of Earth and Mineral Sciences (EMS).
