UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Rock Ethics Institute is now accepting nominations for its 2022 Stand Up Awards.
Established in 2008, the annual Stand Up Awards recognize Penn State undergraduate students for their demonstrating ethical leadership by "standing up" for a cause, idea or belief.
"Every day, students across Penn State's campuses distinguish themselves as ethical leaders through their engagement in university life and the broader community,” said Ben Jones, assistant director of the Rock Ethics Institute (REI). “The Stand Up Awards recognize and celebrate these student leaders.”
Any faculty, staff, student or community member may nominate undergraduate students in any major from any campus for a Stand Up Award.
“If a student's commitment to service and justice has deeply impressed you, we encourage you to nominate them today for a Stand up Award,” Jones added.
Each 2022 award winner will receive a $1,000 cash prize and be honored during the Stand Up Awards ceremony at the Hintz Family Alumni Center on April 11, 2022.
Past winners have demonstrated ethical leadership in many different areas, including restorative justice, access to healthcare, preventing sexual violence, and sustainable agriculture. Each Stand Up honoree has a unique story of courage and determination in their efforts to create a more just world.
Nominations for the 2022 Stand Up Awards must be submitted online no later than Feb. 4, 2022.
Students nominated for a 2022 Stand Up Award must have been enrolled full time at the University for at least one semester during the 2021-22 academic year.
