UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — It is a Schreyer Honors College tradition for scholars to ring a ceremonial gong upon successfully completing their honors thesis. "Following the Gong" is a podcast that dives deep on where scholar alumni go and what they do once they ring the gong and move on from Penn State.
Penn Staters can tune in to the fourth season of the "Following the Gong" podcast beginning Jan. 10. The season features 16 episodes that will be released bi-weekly (including two bonus episodes in February).
Produced by Schreyer Honors College, "Following the Gong" connects its listeners with scholar alumni who share lessons and advice gleaned from their time as scholars and beyond. For each episode, guests sit down with host and fellow scholar alumnus Sean Goheen to discuss their journeys from Penn State to the professional world.
"It’s really exciting to share these new ‘Following the Gong’ conversations with the greater Penn State community,” said Goheen, coordinator of constituent relations and annual giving for Schreyer Honors College. “While the stories are told from a scholar’s perspective, any Penn State student can benefit from these conversations about maximizing the student experience, career preparation, continuing education and networking.”
Scheduled guests for the fourth season include management consultant Alayna Auerbach and Mahika Sampat, president of Penn State’s South Asian Student Association, speaking on student leadership; award-winning teacher, entrepreneur, and civil servant Diana Adams; Capital Group Chief Legal Officer Reggie Hedgebeth; and visual artist and entrepreneur Don Aguillo.
"Following the Gong" episodes are available on the podcast’s homepage, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify and Amazon Music. The full library of past seasons is available for download, and episodes include guests such as Schreyer Honors College Dean Patrick Mather, food scientist Natalie Keller, National Football League champion Stefen Wisniewski and his wife Hilary, a financial analyst, Google engineer Jim Durrell and more.
