Eileen Giovagnoli is the September Employee of the Month

DUNMORE, Pa. — Penn State Scranton Chancellor Marwan Wafa has named Eileen Giovagnoli, associate director of Learning and Disability Services, Academic Affairs, the campus' September Employee of the Month.

Giovagnoli was nominated by multiple co-workers and colleagues in the academic affairs department.

“Eileen works tirelessly for our Penn State students, and her dedication to our students always is evident in her outreach and support efforts," wrote her colleagues Durell Johnson, chief academic officer; Allison Burns, registrar; Meghan Cruciani, associate director of academic advising; Gary Edstrom, student adviser; Kate Lafferty-Danner, Writing Center coordinator; Mary Lance, administrative staff assistant; Suzanne Morgan, administrative support assistant, Corinne Nulton, student adviser; Mary Runco, administrative assistant, nursing; Sue Safko, administrative staff assistant, academic affairs; and Sarah Tichenor, administrative support assistant, academic affairs.

Her nomination stated, "Eileen’s dedication to student success was evident this summer in her college- and campus-level work on virtually offering a University-wide collaborative PaSSS program and to create a virtual offering of the campus Summer Bridge programs. Outcomes from both programs have shown remarkable student success and student engagement despite a completely remote experience. As the academic affairs staff has noted, Eileen always is a consummate professional who incorporates her positive attitude and fun personality into everything she does. Eileen consistently goes above and beyond to provide top-notch programming and services, and Penn State Scranton is so lucky to have her as part of our campus community.”

Director of Student Services and Engagement Brad Kovaleski said, "Eileen always puts student support and development at the forefront. Whether it’s rebuilding the summer bridge program for a remote experience, supporting our students with accommodations, or helping colleagues think through professional workplace puzzles … Eileen is always giving 200% ... and always with a great sense of humor and perspective. Thanks to her boundless energy and support!”

Congratulations, Eileen!

The Employee of the Month recognition was initiated in 2016 by Wafa as a way of distinguishing staff members who "go above and beyond the call of duty" in serving Penn State Scranton.

Campus staff, faculty and students are encouraged to nominate staff members that deserve to be recognized for “going above and beyond.” The link for nominations is: https://scranton.psu.edu/form/employee-month-nomination-form.
