DUNMORE, Pa. — Penn State Scranton Chancellor Marwan Wafa has announced that Jaime Mosher, writing center coordinator in the Learning and Writing Center, is the campus’ Employee of the Month for May.
Assistant Teaching Professor of English Jody Griffith, who nominated Mosher, highlighted her exceptional contributions to student success and campus-wide support.
“Jaime goes beyond serving individual students in The Writing Center, she has provided writing resources and support to the entire campus,” Griffith said. “She offers focused workshops and classroom visits and collaborates with faculty and staff to identify and provide services our students need. She works closely with composition instructors to help their students succeed. Jaime is an exemplary role model and leader for the peer writing tutors she supervises.”
Griffith emphasized Mosher’s role in streamlining processes and ensuring students feel welcomed and supported in The Writing Center.
“Jaime has tirelessly worked to identify areas of need on campus and then find ways to fill those needs,” Griffith said. “Her innovations include new programs to support multilingual students and students with reading challenges and workshops and classroom collaborations to support student research for the research fair.”
Reflecting on Mosher’s impact, Griffith praised her efforts during New Student Orientation (NSO) to ensure incoming students are placed into appropriate composition classes smoothly.
“It's a big job to place all our incoming students into the appropriate composition class each year, and Jaime does a lot of work to make sure it all goes smoothly,” Griffith said.
Congratulations, Jaime!
The Employee of the Month recognition was initiated in 2016 by Wafa as a way of distinguishing staff members who “go above and beyond the call of duty” in serving Penn State Scranton. Campus staff, faculty and students are encouraged to nominate staff members for the recognition of going “above and beyond.”
