DUNMORE, Pa. — Penn State Scranton Chancellor Marwan Wafa has announced that Michael “Jake” Hinton is the campus’ August Employee of the Month.

Each month nominations are received in the chancellor's office for employees whose peers feel they have gone above and beyond in their job duties.

Director of Information Technology Marilee Mulvey wrote in her nomination, “Jake has done an amazing job this summer painting and preparing our classrooms in support of our classroom improvement projects in SLC 33, SLC 36 and GCC 112. He understands how this work contributes to our students’ success, and he models a welcoming campus and student-centered attitude with his thinking. To quote Jake, 'It’s for the students,’ and that dedication is evident in the work he does.

Dave Bichler, supervisor of maintenance and operations, added: “Jake’s commitment to making sure he does a quality paint job each and every time is one of the reasons he was highly recommended for the job. Not only does Jake enjoy enhancing our student learning spaces, he always goes above and beyond when maintaining the campus grounds. Jake is truly a valued and dedicated employee.”

Congratulations Jake!

The Employee of the Month recognition was initiated in 2016 by Wafa as a way of distinguishing staff members who "go above and beyond the call of duty" in serving Penn State Scranton

Campus staff, faculty and students are encouraged to nominate staff members that deserve to be recognized for “going above and beyond.” The link for nominations is here.
