DUNMORE, Pa. — Penn State Scranton is highlighting the campus' student marshals who will lead their fellow graduates during the 58th commencement ceremony procession on May 9 at The Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple. In this series, we will feature students selected as marshals for their academic programs. Join us as we explore their academic journeys, insights and advice for future students.

Kiera Lewis, majoring in psychology, shares insights about her Penn State Scranton journey, future plans and advice for incoming students.

Q: What are your post-grad plans?

Lewis: My postgrad plans are to attend Arizona State University to obtain my master's in forensic psychology.

Q: What was your favorite memory at Penn State Scranton?

Lewis: Library study sessions with my friends.

Q: What was your favorite learning experience?

Lewis: My favorite learning experience was being a part of the Undergraduate Research Fair and Exhibition, which was an amazing learning opportunity in my opinion. I think it really gives you the chance to practice presenting your research in future career moments.

Q: What experience prepared you the most for what is next?

Lewis: I think all the connections I have made here at Penn State Scranton have helped me prepare and grow in different ways. There is not one overwhelming experience but many little ones that mean a lot to me.

Q: Who at Penn State Scranton has supported you and how?

Lewis: Dr. Bella Provenzano has been my biggest supporter here on campus, she never fails to check in and make sure I am doing okay mentally, physically as well as academically. I would recommend her as an adviser to any student going into Psychology.

Q: Do you have any advice for incoming students beginning their Penn State journey?

Lewis: Treat yourself with kindness, college is not easy and neither is being in your late teens/early 20s. Talk to your professors, advisers, other faculty/staff, or your peers if you feel overwhelmed or down, they will always help!
