DUNMORE, Pa. — Penn State Scranton Chancellor Marwan Wafa has announced that web designer Shannon Williams is the Employee of the Month for November.
She was nominated by Marilee Mulvey, director of information technology (IT), who wrote: “During this past summer, staff in the IT service department was reduced due to a resignation. It’s never easy being short-staffed as we all know, but Shannon Williams went ‘above and beyond’ to help with the situation. Her first reaction was to come to me to ask, ‘How can I help?’ and I’m sincerely thankful for Shannon’s attitude as she pitched in to help us with our support tasks. She took ID card photos during [New Student Orientation[ which allowed others on the IT staff to take vacation time, distributed new ID cards and she pitched in by helping students in the lab where she was able.”
Mulvey also recognized Williams for her hard work in helping other departments on campus.
“And while doing all that, she also completed the media badge which allowed her to produce a very inspiring donor video for our development department," Mulvey wrote. "Shannon is a valued employee in our IT services department, and I thank her for going above and beyond this summer to help us and our students.”
Williams was also nominated for Employee of the Month by Christine Ostrowski, director of development.
“Shannon has been extremely helpful for helping make the student’s scholarship celebration a beautiful event," Ostrowski said. "Not only did she create beautiful and professional materials for the celebration, but she was also very involved in the 11-minute video that was produced on campus. Shannon is very pleasant and professional to work with no matter what she is working on with you. Thank you, Shannon, for all your hard work. Your hard work was very much appreciated!!!”

The Employee of the Month recognition was initiated in 2016 by Wafa as a way of distinguishing staff members who go “above and beyond the call of duty” in serving Penn State Scranton.
