SHARON, Pa. — Driven high school upperclassmen who want to start earning college credits have the opportunity to take advantage of Penn State’s Dual Enrollment program at the Shenango campus.
Dual enrollment students take classes on campus at Penn State Shenango and are taught by the University’s world-class faculty, while receiving a 50% tuition reduction.
Partnering with area high schools, Penn State Shenango offers a curated dual enrollment schedule that runs from August to May and enables students to take classes during their typical school day. The suggested schedule features general education courses, allowing high school students to apply the credits they earn to a Penn State degree or transfer the courses to another college.
While courses are subject to change or fill, the schedule includes options like:
- ENGL 15 Rhetoric and Composition
- SOC 1 Intro to Sociology
- COMM 100N Mass Media and Society
- CRIMJ 100 Intro to Criminal Justice
- HDFS 129 Intro to Human Development and Family Studies
- PSYCH 100 Intro to Psychology
- CAS 100 Effective Speech
- IST 110 Information, People, and Technology
Participants also gain access to on-campus resources like free tutoring, academic advising, career services, Penn State University Libraries, computer facilities, and a waiver to apply to any Penn State campus for free.
Penn State’s Dual Enrollment program is available to eligible high school seniors with approval from the student’s respective high school. Applications from juniors are reviewed on a case-by-case basis in conjunction with the high school’s guidance office.
