Credit Suisse exec Lara Warner to speak at Smeal's leadership lecture series

Lara J. Warner, chief compliance and regulatory affairs officer of Credit Suisse Group, will share her perspectives on business and leadership with the Penn State Smeal College of Business on Friday, Feb. 26. Her visit is part of Smeal’s Executive Insights series.

Warner, a 1988 finance graduate, will take part in a moderated discussion with Charles H. Whiteman, John and Becky Surma Dean of Smeal, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. in the Struthers Auditorium, 110 Business Building. The event is free and open to the public, but online registration is required at www.smeal.psu.edu/insights.

Warner’s visit is the first of two Executive Insights sessions this spring. Kurt Bock, chief executive officer of BASF, is scheduled to visit the college on April 8.

Warner has been with Credit Suisse, a multinational financial services holding company that operates the Credit Suisse Bank and other financial services investments, for 14 years. Credit Suisse has operations in more than 50 countries and employs more than 45,000 individuals from approximately 150 different nations.

In 2002, Warner joined Credit Suisse as a senior equity research analyst. In 2004, she was promoted to head of U.S. equity research and, in 2009, to head of global fixed income research. A year later, Warner was named chief financial officer, investment bank. In 2013, she added the title of chief operating officer, investment bank. Last October, she was named chief compliance and regulatory affairs officer, as well as a member of the executive board of Credit Suisse Group Ag and Credit Suisse AG.

Executive Insights is designed to complement the Smeal educational experience by bringing high-profile business leaders to the college to connect with students, faculty, staff, and administrators. Past guests include more than 25 leaders from organizations such as Archer Daniels Midland, Boeing, Dell, Deloitte, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Johnson & Johnson, Kohl’s, KPMG, Nestlé, Procter & Gamble, PwC, Samsung, Siemens, Verizon, Tumi Holdings, Inc., and Urban Outfitters.
