UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — André J. Hawaux, executive vice president, chief operating officer and chief financial officer of Dick’s Sporting Goods, will share his perspectives on business and leadership with the Penn State Smeal College of Business on Friday, April 10. His visit is the second in a series of three Executive Insights sessions this semester.
Hawaux will take part in a moderated discussion with Charles H. Whiteman, John and Becky Surma Dean of Smeal, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. on April 10 in the Struthers Auditorium, Room 110 of the Business Building, University Park.

Hawaux has been with Dick’s since 2013, when he was hired as executive vice president of finance and administration and chief financial officer. Prior to joining Dick’s, Hawaux served as president of consumer foods at ConAgra Foods for four years. From 2006-09 he served as ConAgra executive vice president and chief financial officer.
Dick’s, a Fortune 500 corporation, operates more than 600 stores in 46 states. The company is a Smeal Corporate Associate, a program that offers organizations a variety of ways to tap into the resources of Smeal and Penn State more broadly.
Executive Insights is designed to complement the Smeal educational experience by bringing high-profile business leaders to the college to connect with students, faculty, staff and administrators. Past guests include more than 25 leaders from organizations such as Boeing, Dell, Deloitte, Johnson & Johnson, Kohl’s, KPMG, Procter & Gamble, Samsung, Siemens, Verizon, Tumi Holdings, Inc., Urban Outfitters and PwC.
Patricia Woertz, chairman of the board of directors and former CEO of Archer Daniels Midland Company, and a 1974 Penn State graduate in accounting, will visit Smeal on Friday, April 24 as the final Executive Insights visitor of the semester.
