UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Michelle Darnell, director of the Penn State Smeal College of Business Tarriff Center for Business Ethics and Social Responsibility, has announced that Brian Dreibelbis has accepted an invitation to join the Tarriff Center Advisory Board.

Dreibelbis, senior director of supply chain human resources/labor and employee relations for Land O’Lakes, attended his first meeting on Thursday, April 4.

“Our board members actively guide strategic planning of the center and engage with students and other stakeholders as the center continuously enhances existing, and creates new, initiatives in order to effectively deliver on its value proposition,” Darnell said.

“Brian’s extensive list of professional experiences, and his reputation as a national labor leader, will add valuable insight to our board. This is just another example of his service to not only Smeal, but the Tarriff Center.”

Dreibelbis serves as a strategic human resources business adviser with corporate supply chain professionals, develops broad company labor and employee relations strategy, and interacts with key labor leaders across the United States.

Prior to joining Land O’Lakes, he held supply chain, human resources, and labor and employee relations positions of increasing responsibility with The Walt Disney Co., General Mills and Kraft Foods.

In addition to his work responsibilities, Dreibelbis is a nationally recognized labor leader with organizations such as Global LERN, the U.S. Labor Negotiations Institute, and the National Food and Dairy Board.

Since 2013, he has held positions on numerous U.S. House of Representatives and Senate subcommittees to address the multiemployer pension crisis for U.S. workers. In 2019, he reached a unique agreement with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters to adopt a company defined contribution plan as a pension replacement, the first of its kind in U.S. labor history. He currently works closely with the U.S. Department of Labor on key labor issues facing the country.

Dreibelbis has been actively involved in Smeal’s mentoring program. He has offered insight and guidance to the Tarriff Center, the Department of Supply Chain and Information Systems, and Smeal’s Office of Diversity Enhancement Programs. In March 2023, Dreibelbis was a recipient of the Smeal Distinguished Achievement Award.

He graduated from Penn State in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in supply chain and operations management. He earned an executive master’s degree in labor and employment relations in 1993 from the University of Michigan.
