UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Krishna C. Nadella, president of the Penn State Graduate School Alumni Society, was among 13 recipients of the Alumni Achievement Award honored during a dinner and induction ceremony hosted by President Eric J. Barron and the Penn State Alumni Association on April 8. The award recognizes alumni 35 years of age and younger for their extraordinary professional accomplishments.
Nominated for the award by the Graduate School, Regina Vasilatos-Younken, vice provost for graduate education and dean of the Graduate School, emphasized Nadella’s achievements and professionalism.
“The career advancements that Krishna has experienced as a professional in the global financial industry distinguish him as an alumnus who has succeeded in ‘exceptional fashion at an early age,’ a description that is central to the award’s criteria,” said Vasilatos-Younken. “Krishna has earned appointments and promotions that reflect his leadership abilities, professional expertise, and communication and organizational skill sets. His enduring commitment to Penn State is reflected in his role as president of the Graduate School Alumni Society. A member of the Alumni Society’s Board of Directors since 2008, Krishna is a passionate advocate for programs and initiatives that advance the mission of the Graduate School, support our current graduate students, and engage Graduate School alumni.”
Nadella received his master of business administration degree at Penn State in 2004. He is the head of America’s Sales for Portfolio Valuations & Regulatory Solutions at Bloomberg L.P., a global financial information and news leader. Nadella is responsible for the company’s Fixed Income and OTC Derivative Valuation Service, in addition to its Regulatory Services and Solutions in both North and South America.
Nadella was promoted to his current position in June 2013. He has built and managed numerous sales desks for multiple firms, servicing clients in North and South America, Europe, and Asia, dealing with all aspects of operations. He specializes in sales, capital markets, personnel, marketing, and entrepreneurship. Prior to joining Bloomberg L.P. in April 2010 as a sales director, Nadella was a director at Moody’s Corporation and vice president at Citigroup Global Markets Inc. Before entering Wall Street, Nadella was the founder and CEO of Southern Ontario Sports Inc., a nonprofit firm specializing in sports marketing and management.
Nadella currently hosts and produces the New York City-based Web series “State of Mind with Krishna C. Nadella,” a discussion program that explores the relevant social, economic, and political issues associated with post-secondary education.
In addition to his volunteer leadership position with the Graduate School Alumni Society, Nadella is a member of the Penn State Annual Giving Advisory Council. A recipient of the 2015 Smeal College of Business Alumni Service Award, he previously served on the college’s MBA Alumni Advisory Board.
Five of the 2016 Alumni Achievement Award recipients received graduate degrees at Penn State, including Rachel Sayre, a member of the Graduate School Alumni Society Board of Directors.
