Penn State Smeal announces spring 2023 senior award recipients

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Smeal College of Business annually honors graduating seniors who have made meaningful contributions to Smeal with four different awards.

Seniors who are graduating in the spring, summer or fall of the same year are eligible for one of the four awards listed: Helen Eakin Eisenhower, Ralph H. Wherry Student Service, John M. & Anne B. Stevens Academic Integrity and the George Leland Leffler awards.

Awards are presented and recognized at Smeal’s annual spring program to Smeal College seniors. Recipients of the following awards as listed will be recognized in the spring commencement program and will receive a Nittany Lion statuette and a monetary award.

The awards with the description and recipients are listed as follows:

Helen Eakin Eisenhower Award: Awarded to graduating seniors who have demonstrated scholarship, leadership, character and service to the Smeal College of Business.

  • Katelyn Coco, supply chain and information systems

Ralph H. Wherry Student Service Award: This award honors graduating seniors who have excelled in service to the college, have exhibited academic achievement, and manifest the promise of a successful professional career.

  • Amy Chen, accounting
  • Kristen Chomos, actuarial science
  • Olivia Cordano, finance and labor and employment relations
  • Matthew Hinkle, supply chain and information systems
  • Yuwuxia “Chrisly” Li, supply chain and information systems
  • Michelle Liang, corporate innovation and entrepreneurship and international politics
  • Chimwemwe “Michael” Mitole, finance
  • Caitlin Ramage, marketing

The John M. & Anne B. Stevens Academic Integrity Award: Awarded to graduating senior (or seniors) who demonstrate leadership in academic integrity by serving on a college committee, task force or in a leadership role, dedicated to upholding the Smeal Honor Code, and to promoting a culture of academic integrity.

  • Anna Shimek, management information systems

The George Leland Leffler Scholarship: Awarded to an outstanding finance major.

  • Dylan Benson, finance and Chinese language
