Penn State Smeal Center for Supply Chain Research welcomes new board members

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Steve Tracey, executive director of the Center for Supply Chain Research (CSCR), has announced the recent addition of the three newest members to its advisory board.

Shannon Beecher from IBM, Sylvie Thompson from NTT Data Consulting, and David Vieira from CLX Logistics join the five returning members from 2021.

CSCR Advisory Board members commit to a two-year appointment. While acting in a brand and sponsor development role for Penn State, Smeal and CSCR, members remain active in CSCR-sponsored programs and events. They also provide input and guidance for the center’s strategic plan, forward-thinking initiatives and approve faculty research affiliates and fellowships.

Beecher, director of services supply chain at IBM, has more than 40 years of supply chain experience and leadership. She is responsible for the global end-to-end business execution and strategy development for the IBM service supply chain operation.

Thompson, consulting vice president for supply chain transformation and practice leader at NTT Data Consulting, is a speaker and author of numerous studies and papers on supply chain and logistics. Her specialty is digital transformation as it ripples through the supply chain, including network design, distribution fulfillment, last-mile delivery and reverse logistics within various direct-to-consumer supply chains.

Vieira, president and CEO of CLX Logistics, has more than 25 years of executive logistics experience. Prior to this role, he served the company as president and chief operating officer. He previously worked for MXD Group Inc., and Exel Direct Inc.

Matt Schlosser of The Hershey Company has been named the 2022-23 board chairperson. Linda Bixby of LMI has been named the 2022-23 board vice-chairperson.

“The center is reliant on our industry partners for support, guidance and direction and we are grateful for the current and previous board members who have been gracious to contribute their time and expertise to our efforts,” Tracey said. “Without them, we could not be as successful as we have been these many years.”
