UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Social Science Research Institute’s Consortium on Substance Use and Addiction will host its fourth annual conference, “Evidence to Impact,” in-person and via Zoom on Monday, May 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the HUB-Robeson Center at the University Park campus.

The annual conference of the CSUA brings together researchers, students, practitioners, and community leaders to focus on community-engaged solutions to problems of substance use. The all-day event is free, but attendees are required to register.

This year's conference keynote speaker will be Dr. Yngvild Olsen, director of the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

Additionally, the conference will have several panels, a poster session and a series of research talks from researchers, students and community members. Attendees interested in participating in the poster session or research talks should visit CSUA’s website.

Paul Griffin, CSUA’s interim executive director and professor of industrial and manufacturing engineering, encourages researchers, students and community members to attend this free event.

“This year’s conference is an opportunity to join a discussion focused on how evidence-based solutions create impact throughout Pennsylvania,” Griffin said. “Anyone who shares our vision for a brighter world, who wants to work to solve the complex problems of substance use and addiction, is welcome.”

Housed in the Social Science Research Institute, the CSUA draws on the expertise of researchers, educators, and practitioners from across Penn State to develop and implement effective programs, policies and practices aimed at preventing and treating addiction and its spillover effects on children, families, and communities.
