UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- During the full session of the Board of Trustees on May 6 at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel, the board heard reports and took action on a number of items.
Barron review: In an overview of the past year and the progress made by the University, Penn State President Eric Barron touched on the status of 11 goals he had set and the successful launch of a wide array of initiatives, including increasing access and affordability of a Penn State education.
Provost report: The Board of Trustees heard a report from Executive Vice President and Provost Nicholas Jones highlighting the significant ways in which Penn State and its graduates continue to impact the world.
Diversify skills: The Board of Trustees wants to develop a more well-rounded set of skills and clarify its Code of Conduct, and has embarked on a several-month process to achieve that goal.
Faculty Senate: The University Faculty Senate produced 44 major legislative, advisory and consultative reports and 44 forensic and informational reports during 2015-16 year.
Long-term investment pool: The semi-annual report on the University’s long-term investment pool (LTIP) was included in materials submitted to the Penn State Board of Trustees on May 6, indicating that the total market value of the University’s LTIP was valued at $3.6 billion as of Dec. 31, 2015.
Elections: Seven incumbents and one new member were named to serve on the Board of Trustees, either by election or appointment. Their terms will begin July 1 and will last three years.
