Board of Trustees committees meet, take action on several items

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The University Board of Trustees committees met Nov. 19, taking action on several items and forwarding them to the full board for consideration at its meeting Nov. 20. Here is a look at action taken by the Committee on Finance, Business and Capital Planning.

2016-17 BUDGET PLAN: The Penn State Board of Trustees Committee on Finance, Business and Capital Planning recommended for approval a 2016-17 budget plan that includes a request to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to increase the University’s Education and General appropriation by $39.5 million and a total appropriation of $353.3 million.

FINDLAY DINING COMMONS: The Board of Trustees Finance, Business and Capital Planning Committee approved the final plan for renovating Findlay Dining Commons on the University Park campus, a project that will modernize the facility, update dining options and expand the space for eating and socializing.

RITENOUR BUILDING: In an effort to better serve student needs, the Eberly College of Science will renovate the Ritenour Building on the University Park campus to consolidate and expand student support services for undergraduates in the college. The Board of Trustees Finance, Business and Capital Planning Committee approved the final plans and authorized the expenditure of funds.

HUMAN RESOURCES INFORMATION SYSTEMS: The Committee on Finance, Business and Capital Planning heard a request for $18.5 million in additional funds for implementation of the new vendor-based Human Resources Information System project, called WorkLion.

LASCH FOOTBALL BUILDING: The proposed Phase II upgrades to the Mildred and Louis Lasch Football Building at University Park were recommended for approval by the Penn State Board of Trustees Committee on Finance, Business and Capital Planning. The full board is expected to vote on the project at its meeting on Friday, Nov. 20.

ABINGTON AND BRANDYWINE HOUSING: A vote to recommend residential housing projects at Penn State’s Abington and Brandywine campuses to the University’s Board of Trustees was logged by the Committee on Finance, Business and Capital Planning.
