I wish to thank the students, faculty and staff of Penn State York for their remarkable resilience over the last few months!
Students: Over the course of the pandemic, you have responded well to a situation not of your choosing. University is a special time of life as you gain valuable academic and life experiences, and you have had to do this mostly in front of a computer monitor! I congratulate you on your patience and perseverance.
Faculty: With very little notice, you were forced to abandon your carefully developed teaching plans and jump into a Brave New World of Zoom and digital learning. However, you made this seem virtually seamless. I never believed that you would be able to make this transition with such ease and success!
Staff: Your efforts since March have been considerable, as you had to trade in your office for working from your kitchen table! All this time you worked through the problems to support students and faculty members as they continue their work. I am especially appreciative our your efforts (along with some faculty members) to contact every student by phone last spring to ensure that they were successfully navigating the transition to remote learning.
All of you have weathered the vicissitudes of this great health emergency with grace and dignity. I look forward to the spring semester, as we continue to work our way through the pandemic. Soon we will emerge from this emergency, both wiser from our experiences and stronger through our actions. We all should be proud of the Penn State York community!
