Lady Lions basketball to honor education faculty
Penn State women’s basketball will recognize Thomas Sherwood, assistant professor of education, and Pia Smal, instructor of rehabilitation and human services, at their game on Sunday, Dec. 18, at the Bryce Jordan Center. Sherwood and Smal have been nominated by players Kaliyah Mitchell and De’Janae Boykin, respectively, as their favorite professors. Faculty/staff award nominations deadline approaching
Nominations for the 2017 Faculty and Staff Achievement Awards must be submitted by Dec. 20. The six awards are given annually to faculty and staff who go beyond their basic duties to bring about positive and lasting change to the University community. Institute for CyberScience accepting grant applications
The Penn State Institute for CyberScience (ICS) Seed Grant Program is accepting research proposals through Jan. 17, 2017. The grants are used to support interdisciplinary research groups as they prepare to pursue major awards from external agencies. ICS plans to award 20 to 25 grants in 2017. The award amounts will be determined by the degree of collaboration involved in the research project:
- Up to $4,000 to support the organization of a conference.
- Up to $5,000 to projects with a single researcher.
- Up to $10,000 to projects that bring together multiple faculty in a single college.
- Up to $25,000 to projects where faculty collaborate across colleges.
