Like other colleges and campuses at this great University, the College of Health and Human Development (HHD) has dug deep to find new ways to engage our students, redirect our science, and contribute to our communities.
Amidst all the change and uncertainty this past year, we’ve still heard repeatedly from that student who was helped “through a difficult situation when some of us needed it most” or that parent who has observed a child who has “grown so much in a short amount of time.” In a world that has felt more dangerous and less fair, delivering on our mission to protect the health and enrich the lives of others has been challenging.
But, again, the HHD community has risen to the occasion. Read about how Jenna Paritee, a junior majoring in human development and family studies, completed a remote internship for an international non-profit organization focused on vulnerable children, adolescents and elderly; or see examples of how our faculty led work helping to solve emerging problems in the healthcare, social service, hospitality and leisure sectors.
With great empathy, heroic effort and inspired creativity, our staff, our students, our faculty and our alumni have not just hung in, but stepped up in countless ways for which I am inordinately grateful.
