Goodman named executive editor for the humanities

Eleanor Goodman has been named the new executive editor for the humanities at the Penn State Press. Goodman comes to Penn State from the University of Virginia, where she most recently was head of programs in the library's Mary and David Harrison Institute for American History, Literature and Culture. Earlier in her career she worked in the Acquisitions Editorial Department at the University of Virginia Press and served as a curatorial assistant at Monticello.

In her position, Goodman will be involved in acquiring manuscripts and working with the advisory board for the romance studies series, an initiative of the Office of Digital Scholarly Publishing (ODSP). ODSP is a partnership between the Penn State University Press and University Libraries.

A graduate of Oberlin College, Goodman earned her master's degree in art history from the University of Virginia and her doctorate from New York University's Institute of Fine Arts. She was on the faculty of the Savannah College of Art and Design for two years and has taught art history at New York University and Pace University. Besides her expertise in art history, particularly Spanish art of the 16th and 17th centuries, Goodman brings to her new job for the press interdisciplinary knowledge in the fields of American studies, European history, medieval studies and religion.
