Graduate Women in Science chapter's 2022 Empower Conference to be held Feb. 5

Students, post-docs and professionals can register by Feb. 1

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Graduate Women in Science (GWIS) State College Chapter Empower Committee announced that registration is now open for the 2022 Empower Conference, to be held 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, via Zoom.

Empower (formerly known as Voices) is an annual professional development and networking conference for people in STEM at all career stages: students, post-docs and professionals. This year, the conference theme is "Finding Yourself in Science," and will feature keynote speaker Alexis Gambis.

Other speakers include Michael Blakey, Mona Minkara, Paula Croxson and Asia Murphy. Additionally, Sonya Wilmoth, director of Penn State’s Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity, lead a workshop; and Latisha Franklin, a doctoral candidate from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, will lead a meditation.

Registration for the 2022 Empower Conference closes at 11:59 p.m. on Feb. 1. Registration fees are $4.42 for Penn State students and $5.45 for all other attendees.
