UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Nearly 400 professionals from 126 countries have studied at Penn State as part of the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program.
Established in 1978 by President Jimmy Carter, the Humphrey program is a Fulbright exchange activity funded by the U.S. Congress through the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State. The program currently is housed in the College of Education and annually hosts 10 mid-career professionals who complete a one-year, non-degree program in which they participate in academic study, professional training and other work-related experiences.
“We are fortunate to host Humphrey Fellows each year,” said Leila Bradaschia, director of international programs for the College of Education. “We learn so much from one another, and the experiences and perspectives the fellows bring to the college are unparalleled.”
Each fellow sets independent goals to learn more about a variety of educational topics, including higher education administration, teacher training, learning design and technology, education policy, and teaching English as a foreign language.
This year, Penn State is one of 15 universities in the United States hosting Humphrey Fellows. The 2016-17 fellows at Penn State are:
— Victoria G. Borkovskaya, Russia
— Oxana Draguta, Moldova
— Tatevik L. Ghribyan, Armenia

— Mukherjee Kaoushikk, India
— Shaheen Motala-Timol, Mauritius
