LinkedIn canceling access to platform in China

Students, faculty and staff located in China may be impacted

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Effective Dec. 14, LinkedIn Learning is ending access for individuals based in China for the launch of InCareer, a new, standalone jobs application localized for China.

LinkedIn decided to end its current localized version in China, which is how people in China access the global social media platform, in December 2021, due to changes in operations and other compliance requirements. After Dec. 14, those who visit LinkedIn Learning using an IP address from China will be notified by a message in the application

Penn State understands that this global change may impact students, faculty and staff who are learning, teaching and working in China and use the LinkedIn Learning application. Importantly, accounts for students, faculty and staff temporarily located in China will not be impacted upon their return home and users may resume access.

As a reminder, Penn State faculty and staff have access to the Learning Resource Network (LRN) powered by Cornerstone On Demand. The LRN provides Penn State faculty and staff with everything they need related to professional development, as well as easier access to registration for online and trainer-led learning modules and professional development transcripts.

Students may access Penn State’s Tech Tutors– a resource open to student that includes personalized trainings on a number of major software tools including Access, Photoshop, Excel, Canvas, PowerPoint, Visio, Word, Acrobat, InDesign, Sites at Penn State, WikiSpaces and Prezi.

A full list of technology tool restrictions is available on the international restrictions of Penn State software and technology services page
