A Note from Neeli: April 2024

Furthering our land-grant mission through tailgate medicine and rural community partnerships

To the Penn State community,

As we prepare to celebrate commencement, I want to again express my pride and gratitude to you as a member of the Penn State community. This milestone not only recognizes the incredible achievements of our graduating students, but also the faculty and staff who dedicate themselves to their success every step of the way. While this semester has presented its fair share of challenges and tough conversations, I can attest our commitment to this collective mission is as strong as ever.

Thanks to a submission through one of my previous newsletters, I discovered yet another inspiring example of our community making powerful impacts through the LION Mobile Clinic — essentially a roving medical facility built inside a tailgate van. Together, physicians, staff, and students are using “tailgate medicine” to bring our land-grant impact to life and health care to the doorsteps of rural communities across central Pennsylvania.
