Robert M. Brown, assistant professor of education in College of Education, from July 1, 1967, until his retirement June 30, 1983; died Oct. 16. He was 81.
George R. Bubash, instructor in College of Agricultural Sciences, from Jan. 1, 1954, until his retirement Oct. 1, 1981; died Sept. 30, at the age of 82.
Dagobert de Levie, professor emeritus of German and the founder of Penn State's Study Abroad Program, died Oct. 5. De Levie studied at the Universities of Kiel and Cologne in Germany and received his doctorate from the University of Basel in Switzerland. In 1940, he came to the United States and continued his studies at Columbia University. From 1942 until 1946, de Levie served in the U.S. Army, where he received specialized training in the Russian language at Harvard University. De Levie joined the Penn State faculty as an assistant professor of German in 1946 and became a full professor of German in 1964. De Levie was the founder of and established Penn State's Study Abroad Program, which he directed from 1961 until his retirement in 1978. Under de Levie's directorship, the Study Abroad Program grew and expanded to become the Foreign Studies Program. In recognition of his research and publication in the field of German intellectual history and further recognition of his international achievements, de Levie was made a lifetime "Ehrensenator" ( a distinguished honors senator) by the University of Cologne.

Marion O. Carr, assistant professor of speech at Penn State Worthington Scranton, from Sept. 1, 1969, until her retirement July 1, 1990; died Oct. 13, at the age of 84.
Ernest Dejaiffe, professor of engineering at Penn State Altoona, from Sept. 1, 1953, until his retirement July 1, 1975; died Oct. 18. He was 91.
William H. Koll, associate professor of physical education in College of Health and Human Development, from July 1, 1964, until his retirement June 30, 1986; died Sept. 27, at the age of 80.
Laurent LeSage, professor emeritus of romance languages in College of the Liberal Arts, from July 1, 1958, until his retirement July 1, 1977; died Oct. 8. He was 90.
Kathryn A. Reed, assistant food buyer in Housing and Food Services, from July 1, 1955, until her retirement July 1, 1973; died Oct. 31, at the age of 92.
Harold L. Porter, staff assistant IV at The Nittany Lion Inn, from Aug. 16, 1965, until his retirement April 1, 1995; died Sept. 29. He was 63.
James R. Rorabaugh, manager of maintenance/utility operator at Penn State Harrisburg, from Nov. 1, 1966, until his retirement Jan. 1, 1980; died Oct. 17. He was 88.
Russell M. Smith, county agricultural extension agent in College of Agricultural Sciences, from Sept. 1, 1929, until his retirement May 1, 1968; died June 23, at the age of 96.
Doris B. Sutherland, senior assistant librarian in University Libraries, from July 1, 1965, until her retirement June 21, 1969; died Oct. 10. She was 94.
Dorothy L. Wheeler, nutrition adviser in College of Agricultural Sciences, from July 1, 1977, until her retirement Oct. 1, 1990; died Oct. 15, at the age of 78.
