Penn State service members and veterans invited to breakfast, lunch

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State service members and veterans are invited to attend a breakfast and lunch as part of the University’s upcoming Military Appreciation Week from Nov. 4 to 12. Both events will honor and celebrate Penn State faculty and staff who serve or served in the U.S. armed forces. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required for both events.  

Each fall, Penn State as part of the University’s ongoing military appreciation efforts recognizing the service and sacrifice of service members, veterans and military families. The events are part of Penn State’s annual Military Appreciation Week, which officially kicks off on Nov. 4 with a weeklong series of events and festivities. The celebrations culminate with the annual Military Appreciation Football Game at Beaver Stadium on Nov. 12. 

Nov. 10 — Veterans Luncheon  

The luncheon, hosted by the Penn State Military Appreciation Events Committee, is open to Penn State faculty, staff, student and alumni veterans, as well as local veterans. The lunch will take place Thursday, Nov. 10 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Hintz Family Alumni Center at University Park.  

Eugene L. McFeely (ret. Col.), senior director for Veterans Affairs and Services at Penn State, will be the guest speaker. Reservations are required by Nov. 7 and space is limited. A request to attend can be submitted via this online form

Nov. 11 — Penn State Employee and Student Military Service Recognition Breakfast   

On Veterans Day, Friday, Nov. 11, Penn State students, faculty and staff who currently serve or have served in the U.S. Armed Forces are invited to attend the Annual Military Service Appreciation Breakfast. The breakfast will take place from 9 to 10:45 a.m. in Heritage Hall in the HUB-Robeson Center on the University Park campus. Individuals can register via the online form. The breakfast will feature light refreshments and networking for those in attendance. Susquehanna Service Dogs will be the featured speaker. In addition, District 19 Commander Greg Stump from the Pennsylvania VFW will also briefly speak about resources available to current/former service members. Representatives from Penn State Human Resorces will be on hand to answer questions about service and Penn State benefits. Following breakfast, guests are invited to attend the student-led Veterans Day Ceremony at Old Main Lawn beginning at 11:11 a.m. 

The breakfast is sponsored by the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging in Finance and Business, Penn State Veterans Affairs and Services, and the Office of Veterans Programs.
