UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — This week, we recognize seven Penn Staters who go above and beyond what's asked of them in their work at the University. Thank you to:

Michael Rodruck and Gudmundur Stefansson, graduate students, whose nominator wrote: "Michael and Gudmundur have worked hard to help get the new 24 inch telescope in Davey Lab up and running, and have frequently volunteered in summer and fall to open it up for visitors and fellow Penn Staters during numerous outreach events."

Marie Tabshi, a student at Penn State Lehigh Valley, whose nominator wrote: "Marie has shown amazing dedication and enthusiasm in an effort to bring the Blue and White Society back to campus at Penn State Lehigh Valley. As vice president of the group, she has demonstrated leadership and commitment to Blue and White on a daily basis. Our spirit week and bash were a success with her involvement."

Barbara Awad, a student at Penn State Lehigh Valley, whose nominator wrote: "Freshman Barbara Awad, the activities chair for the Blue and White Society at Penn State Lehigh Valley, helped initiate and lead our first Spirit Week. She also showed incredible dedication to our first Blue and White bash, ensuring the tailgate theme and wonderful experiences of this successful event."

Tony Cain, at Penn State Shenango, whose nominator wrote: "Tony greets each day with such a positive attitude and great smile. He takes great pride in his work. Tony goes over and above to keep the Lartz Library sparkling clean. Thanks, Tony!"

Tawnya Cordwell, a student at Penn State DuBois, whose nominator wrote: "Tawnya is the president of the Human Development and Family Studies club at the DuBois campus. She goes above and beyond to promote professional opportunities to her fellow HDFS students to aid in their growth and success. She does this without complaining and with a smile on her face."

Diana V. Hill, at Penn State New Kensington, whose nominator wrote: "Being a military veteran student at Penn State New Kensington, having someone such as Diana to depend on to accomplish everything between the University and the Veterans Administration made my life much easier, to say the least."

Do you know someone who deserves a shout-out? If you do, consider taking a minute to nominate that person by filling out a short online form. For more information about the process, visit the "We Are!" guidelines.
