UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — This week, we recognize eight Penn Staters who go above and beyond what's asked of them in their work at the University. Thank you to:
Ryan Morgan, in Auxiliary and Business Services, whose nominator wrote: "Ryan handles his multitude of daily tasks and responsibilities with such poise and professionalism. His help on various projects is so greatly appreciated. He is a wealth of knowledge that Penn State is fortunate to have in Auxiliary and Business Services!"
Oranee Tawatnuntachai, at Penn State Harrisburg, whose nominator wrote: "Dr. Tawatnuntachai is the MBA director and associate professor of finance in the School of Business Administration at Penn State Harrisburg. She is a 'go-getter' and always puts her students first by looking at ways that our school can meet our students' needs so that they can successfully complete our programs."
Barbara Eshbach, at Penn State York, whose nominator wrote: "Barb made a difference on our campus with her game-based library first-year engagement program called ConnectEd. It helps students make social connections through library programming. She has given hundreds of extra hours of her own time to make a difference for our students. She is the best of what Penn State exemplifies!"
Al Matyasovsky, with the Office of Physical Plant, whose nominator wrote: "Al is extremely passionate about recycling at Penn State. He is always striving to reduce material going to the landfill by recycling more items now than ever before. He always puts Penn State and our environment first. Thanks for caring."
Mike Blass, at Penn State Hazleton, whose nominator wrote: "Whether helping with a panicked call over a 'lost' inbox, adding requested software or trying to figure out why a printer won’t print, Mike always helps with a smile. He never makes us feel like our issue is trivial or bothersome, and calms our 'emergencies' like a well-seasoned professional."
Debbie Miller, in Human Development and Family Studies, whose nominator wrote: "Debbie greets everyone in HDFS with a friendly face and caring attitude. She always helps out students, faculty and staff, coming in early to get tasks done for faculty before 8 a.m. classes. She has a 'can-do' attitude and goes beyond what her job requires. In Debbie’s words, 'I love to be busy!'"
Matt Donovan, with the Office of Physical Plant, whose nominator wrote: "Matt is an unsung hero. His ability to make things work is amazing. He has an organic understanding of data and how it connects. He can listen to people talk about a process/procedure and instantly understand how it translates into technology. He asks great questions, is smart and funny, and works hard."
Judy Wills, in Outreach, whose nominator wrote: "Thank you Judy Wills for your exceptional support of faculty and staff and your willingness to pitch in and do whatever needs to be accomplished for the Commission for Adult Learners! Your contribution makes all the difference!"
