UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — This week, we recognize six Penn Staters who go above and beyond what's asked of them in their work at the University. Thank you to:
Alexandra Alfonso Castro, a student, whose nominator wrote: "She is kind, she is caring, she is outgoing, she will make your day. She is the highlight to anyone she sees. Talk to anyone and they will admit she brightens your day. She will tutor you and never say no. Alexandra is the definition of Penn State pride and stature."
John Ilie, information technology specialist, whose nominator wrote: "John's title is AV support, but he is so much more than that! He continues to go above and beyond for the Smeal College of Business. His passion and dedication to the craft of event management is untouchable. Thank you for all your hard work!"
Dee Clarke, at Penn State Hershey, whose nominator wrote: "Dee handles a large magnitude of responsibility from multiple programs, but always has time to assist faculty and students with the smallest to largest tasks. Without fail she gives an astonishing level of performance and takes care of the anatomy graduate students like her own children!"
Susan Dale, at Penn State New Kensington, whose nominator wrote: "Susan fields requests from parents, students and faculty all with grace and a smile so that they feel well taken care of. She provides the primary staff support for adjunct faculty and helps each to feel like a true part of our campus, even if they are only on campus for a few hours each week."
Sharon Bassett, in Development and Alumni Relations, whose nominator wrote: "Sharon is the go-to person in our office and will go to the ends of the earth to find answers to our questions. She fields phone calls that are not related to our unit or division but will find an answer for anyone who calls and does it cheerfully and willingly. My office would be lost without her."
Angela McMahon, in Student Affairs, whose nominator wrote: "Angela is an integral part of our team! In support of our pre-admission coordinator, Angela has worked hard to assist with the important student re-enrollment process. Angela's hard work is always noticed and very appreciated... Thank you, Ange!"
