UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — This week, we recognize five Penn Staters who go above and beyond what's asked of them in their work at the University. Thank you to:
Katherine Sacklock, a student at Penn State Shenango, whose nominator wrote: "Katherine Shacklock works tirelessly with the Drama Club. She is the treasurer for the club, costume coordinator, props manager and assistant director, and has created a new, organized room for all the Theatre Department’s merchandise. Anything that needs to be done, Katherine says, 'When and where!'"
Carol McQuiggan, at Penn State Harrisburg, whose nominator wrote: "Carol has an amazing strength and positive spirit. She always gives Penn State Harrisburg 100 percent. She is a true inspiration to anyone who knows her."
Allison Subasic, with Student Affairs, whose nominator wrote: "Allison is truly caring — putting in many hours of her own time and is a mother figure to the students. Because she is knowledgeable and compassionate, she’s guided numerous transgendered students through their transition and provided assistance to students contemplating suicide or suffering mental illness."
Chris Sorensen, in the Controller's office, whose nominator wrote: "I'm a new employee and Chris helped with my computer setup. He is both pleasant and patient. He quickly responds to all questions and never made me feel bad if I didn’t understand a technical issue. He took the extra step to add icons/shortcuts to make it easier for me to work. Thanks for the help!"
Valerie Walsh, at Penn State Greater Allegheny, whose nominator wrote: "Val sets up our catered events with creative flair. Her attention to detail is noticed by all! The table and buffet décor is first rate and coordinates perfectly with the meal. When Val is involved, you feel like you're enjoying a dinner party in a home."
Do you know someone who deserves a shout-out? If you do, consider taking a minute to nominate that person by filling out a short online form. For more information about the process, visit the "We Are!" guidelines.
