UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — This week, we recognize five Penn Staters who go above and beyond what's asked of them in their work at the University. Thank you to:
Almedina Merzihic, at Penn State Behrend, whose nominator wrote: "Ms. Merzihic has been tutoring more than 150 international and immigrant students in their academic English skills, helping them thrive at Penn State Behrend. She makes a unique effort to support students from diverse backgrounds, which demonstrates her commitment to student-centeredness."
Scott Tiedebohl, at Penn State Hershey, whose nominator wrote: "A mother with two children was trying to pay for lunch with a gift card. The cash register was not allowing the card to be used. A long line started to form and the cashier went to get a manager. Dr. Tiedebohl approached the cashier privately and gave her his card to pay for the lunch of the family."
Kay Tate, at Penn State Altoona, whose nominator wrote: "Kay is the heart of the Cypress Building. She interrupts her work with a very friendly, 'How can I help you?' for anyone who comes into her office door. If she can’t find the answer to your question immediately (which is rare; she knows everything!), she finds the solution quickly."
Paul Coltus, at Penn State Fayette, whose nominator wrote: "Paul makes a significant impact on the physical therapist assistant and science departments. He is a team player, finding ways to make departments run more smoothly and improve the overall experience of students. Paul consistently goes above and beyond."
Teri DeAngelo, at Penn State Behrend, whose nominator wrote: "Teri has taken the lead and supported others on our staff in our transition to LionPATH, the common schedule and the new CollegeNET classroom scheduling system. Teri jumped into these new systems with both feet. We are so fortunate to have her on our team!"
Do you know someone who deserves a shout-out and whose efforts embody one of the Penn State Values: Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Discovery, Excellence and Community? If you do, consider taking a minute to nominate that person for recognition as part of a special "We Are!" series focused on the Penn State Values. Fill out a short online form, or for more information about the process, visit the "We Are!" guidelines.
