This week, we recognize five Penn Staters who go above and beyond what's asked of them in their work at the University.
Do you know someone who deserves a shout-out? If you do, consider taking a minute to nominate that person by filling out a short online form. For more information about the process, visit the "We Are!" guidelines.
This week, it's thank you to:
Francesca Kester, with Dickinson Law, whose nominator wrote: "Second year student Francesca Kester initiated a partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region. Eight Dickinson Law students became a Big Brother/Big Sister, and committed to being a positive role model and giving the gift of time and friendship while carrying the load of a full-time law student."
Rachel Olszewski-Rybicki, with Penn State Wilkes-Barre, whose nominator wrote: "In activating our emergency plan after receiving a credible threat of a bomb, Rachel’s role as communication specialist was critical for sharing information with local and central University officials and answering inquiries from the media. She was a voice of calm in a time of uncertainty and unknowns." (Editor's note: The bomb threat was investigated and was determined to present no danger.)
Bonnie Sukana, at Penn State Hazleton, whose nominator wrote: "Bonnie consistently goes above and beyond to help students in our office. She is always pleasant in her interactions, and you can feel her Nittany Lion pride come out toward every student!"
Roxana Gearhart, in the College of the Liberal Arts, whose nominator wrote: "Contributes with creative ideas. Goes the extra mile to help students succeed. She a is diligent, hard working person who always has a smile for everybody."
Nancy Lucase, at Penn State Greater Allegheny, whose nominator wrote: "Nancy helps to keep the Teaching International initiative running smoothly. Her tireless efforts help Greater Allegheny faculty provide visiting speakers and workshops every week. When Nancy is in charge of a project, you know it will be well done and completed quickly."
