Student groups to host activities in celebration of Penn State’s 158th birthday

The Penn State Student Programming Association (SPA) and the Penn State Alumni Association’s Lion Ambassadors are hosting celebrations for the University’s 158th birthday — “Founder’s Day” — with festivities that include a sold-out Imagine Dragons concert on Wednesday, Feb. 20, and birthday celebration activities that will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22, in the HUB-Robeson Center.

All are welcome to attend the free Friday birthday celebration, which will honor Penn State's historical accomplishments and current students’ plans for the future. Games, performances, and free food will be featured at the celebration.

The Centre County Historical Society will present information at the event about the Centre Furnace Mansion's role in the birth of the University. Students will have the opportunity to tour the Centre Furnace Mansion for free from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday. A Penn State trolley will provide free transportation to and from the HUB-Robeson Center, departing every 20 minutes.

The Lion Ambassadors and SPA are collaborating on the Founder’s Day events for the second year in a row. Lion Ambassadors play an active role in University admissions as campus tour guides and serve as an important outreach arm of the Alumni Association.
